Monday’s markets saw a pleasant little bump for wheat futures, at least temporarily reversing the recent unpleasant downtrend.
Spring wheat futures rose six cents, hard red winter wheat rose three to four cents and soft red winter rose four to nine cents per bushel.
Recent wheat exports from the United States have been good compared to last year. Decent rainfall in the southern Plains over the weekend did not rattle the markets.
Most other crops were up a bit too, with soybeans rising about eight cents per bu. and canola rising seven cents per bu. for the July contract.
