The Farm Leadership Council hopes new on-line programs will help it remain relevant and better serve its customers. The council’s Advanced Producer Networks (APN) will include webinars, teleconference calls and video forums and are a departure from its previous approach that delivered educational programs to prairie producers primarily through meetings, forums and conferences.”What we found is that producers can find it a challenge juggling their work on the farm with attending educational conferences and other training events,” said council executive director Linda Pike.”Taking part in different events means time away from the farming operation and their family. It can be a difficult balancing act.”New networks include commodity marketing, equipment, crop production, human resources, financial management and technology. There is a fee for using the new service, but current council members receive a basic level subscription with access to two networks for one year. The council plans to introduce APN during the Leading Change and Innovation Conference to be held in Saskatoon Oct. 26-27.
