July canola edges higher as cool weather hampers seeding

Old crop canola edged higher while new crop barely changed on Wednesday.
Wheat regained some of the ground lost in the previous two days. A sale of U.S. wheat to Egypt supported wheat, as did concern about crop quality damage from forecasted heavy rain in the southern Plains in coming days.
Corn followed wheat higher.
The value of the U.S. dollar against a basket of world currencies has weakened, and that provided basic support to American crop futures.
There is the potential for frost in central and eastern Saskatchewan tonight.

Growing turmoil surrounding the Trump presidency has the market wondering if promised tax cuts and economic stimulation will move ahead.
Light crude oil nearby futures in New York were up 41 cents to US$49.07 per barrel.
In the afternoon, the Canadian dollar was trading around US73.45 cents, down from 73.63 cents the previous trading day. The U.S. dollar was C$1.3615.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 372.82 points, or 1.78 percent, to 20,606.93, the S&P 500 lost 43.64 points, or 1.82 percent, to 2,357.03 and the Nasdaq Composite dropped 158.63 points, or 2.57 percent, to 6,011.24.
The TSX closed down 269.65 points, or 1.73 percent, at 15,273.68.
