WINNIPEG, Manitoba, Sept 8 (Reuters) – ICE Canada canola futures rose on Thursday on short-covering after two consecutive losses.
* November canola rose $3.90 to $463.30 per tonne.
* January canola was up $3.80 at $470.20.
* November-January canola spread traded 2,531 times.
* Chicago November soybeans climbed on technical buying.
* NYSE Liffe November rapeseed dipped and October Malaysian crude palm oil edged higher.
* The Canadian dollar was trading at $1.2918 to the U.S. dollar, or 77.41 U.S. cents at 1:12 p.m. CDT (1812 GMT), lower than Wednesday’s close of $1.2900, or 77.52 U.S. cents.

As the harvest in southern Alberta presses on, a broker said that is one of the factors pulling feed prices lower in the region. Darcy Haley, vice-president of Ag Value Brokers in Lethbridge, added that lower cattle numbers in feedlots, plentiful amounts of grass for cattle to graze and a lacklustre export market also weighed on feed prices.
* 17 percent of Saskatchewan canola has been harvested, the provincial government said.
Light crude oil nearby futures in New York were up $2.12 to US$47.62 per barrel.
The Canadian dollar at noon was US77.47 cents, down from 77.55 cents the previous trading day. The U.S. dollar at noon was C$1.2909.
