Seeding progress in Saskatchewan is still slightly behind the five-year average, but the hot dry weather forecast for the next few days will help move operations along.

As of Tuesday, progress stood at 22 percent, up from seven percent the week before and behind the average of 29 percent.

About half of the field peas are in, according to crop reporters around the province, as well as 41 percent of lentils, 32 percent of durum, 20 percent of spring wheat, 18 percent of canola, 17 percent of mustard, 10 percent of barley, seven percent of chickpeas, six percent of flax, five percent of oats and canaryseed and one percent of soybeans.

Some areas received up to 48 millimetres of rain last week. Topsoil moisture remains adequate to surplus through most regions.
