Water is flowing on the Battle River at North Battleford, Sask., and the Water Security Agency has advised of an increased risk of ice jams, particularly where the Battle meets the North Saskatchewan River.

Ice jams in the past have affected Highway 4, and drivers are advised to use caution because water can rise quickly in those situations.

Peak flows on the Battle River out of Alberta are expected in the next few days. Local inflow will begin on the weekend, and the peak flow should arrive in Battleford early next week.

The peak is expected to be higher than 2011 and could approach levels last seen in 1985.
