Parrish & Heimbecker will conduct field scale trials at nine locations across Western Canada beginning this year, the Winnipeg company announced.

P & H seed and crop protection manager John Devos said the new trials, known as Field Intelligence Trials, will involve professional agronomists and farmer co-operators.

The trials will test a variety of products including cereal and oilseed varieties, chemicals and fertilizers and will provide valuable, unbiased data to local farmers.

The trials will be conducted at two locations in Alberta: four in Saskatchewan and three in Manitoba.

Ukraine 2025 wheat crop seen at 21.8 million tons, corn at 28 million-29 million says farm union

Ukraine’s 2025 wheat harvest is forecast at a maximum of 21.8 million metric tons, down from 22.7 million tons in 2024, the UAC farmers’ union said on Wednesday, slightly raising its outlook for this year’s corn crop.

Trial sites include Wilson Siding (Lethbridge) and Mossleigh, Alta., Tisdale, Yorkton, Quill Lake and Watrous, Sask., and Swan River, Glossop and Dutton, Man.

In addition to generating information for farmers, the trials will also help P & H agronomists assess the performance of different products in different regions across the West and enhance their knowledge of products and performance.

“Farmers look to us for reliable advice on cropping plans and product information,” Devos said.

“If we can provide high quality, local information from these new field-scale trials, we help continue the P & H tradition as farmers’ partner in business.”
