Claims under the Provincial Disaster Assistance Program may still be made by those affected by the severe weather of 2010.

The Saskatchewan government said flooding damage such as cracks in buildings may just be occurring now.

The ministry of corrections, public safety and policing said some people might think they can’t file a claim because it has been more than six months since the event.

“PDAP claims are still being accepted on a case-by-case basis,” said minister Yogi Huyghebaert.

More than 200 municipalities declared disasters, which means the residents, landowners and businesses in those communities are eligible to make claims.

Since the summer, there have been nearly 5,000 claims and about 3,200 payments so far worth $11.51 million. The final tally is expected to be $40 to $45 million.
