Saskatchewan Water Security Agency officials are holding an open house from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. today in Estevan to advise the public of flood preparations.

Outflows from the Rafferty and Alameda reservoirs in the Estevan area were increased last week, and water was also released from Boundary reservoir.

The region was hit hard during the flood of 2011 that devastated farmland and the village of Roche Percee along the Souris River.

The open house is being held at the Super 8 Motel.

Next week officials will meet with Red Earth First Nation in the province’s northeast, where flooding on the Carrot River also caused problems.

Emergency management personnel have placed emergency equipment in strategically located areas throughout southern Saskatchewan, where flooding could be a problem this spring.

The WSA will release its April runoff forecast next week.
