Saskatoon’s Redekop Manufacturing suffered a fire the morning of Monday, October 24.

The fire consumed much of the plant facility say fire officials. Redekop is known for its MAV combine straw choppers, standard equipment on many combines in Western Canada and a popular option for retrofitting machines.

Redekop pioneered crop residue management. Opening in 1985, the company has recent success providing corn cob collection equipment for the American cellulose ethanol industry.

The 35,000 square foot plant is located on 10 acres northwest of Saskatoon. The company also does custom laser and water-jet metal cutting for other manufacturers in the region.
