Officials from the town and the Rural Municipality of Craik, Sask., are expected to meet with an engineer this week to find the best way to keep the Craik Eco-Centre from sliding down a hill. The Eco-Centre, which was built using environmentally friendly materials and methods houses the Solar Garden restaurant. It opened six years ago atop a hill overlooking the Arm River Valley. The town owns the building, but it sits on RM-owned land.Town administrator Jeff Murray said the hill began crumbling two years ago but wet weather this year has made it worse.”The whole back is coming apart,” he said of the hill. The building and restaurant were still in use Aug. 24, even though the most recent crack in the earth was only about three metres away.Murray said calling in experts was the best way to keep the 6,000 sq. foot building safe.
