Alanna Koch, Saskatchewan’s deputy minister of agriculture since the Saskatchewan Party took office in 2007, is moving to the premier’s office.

Koch becomes deputy minister to Brad Wall effective July 1. She replaces Doug Moen, who is leaving at the end of June.

She is the first woman to serve as a deputy minister to a Saskatchewan premier. She has extensive agricultural background, having been the president of the Canadian Agri-Food Trade Alliance and executive director of the Western Canadian Wheat Growers Association.

Rick Burton, who has worked for the agriculture ministry for more than 25 years, replaces Koch.

He was previously director of crop development policy, assistant deputy minister of regulatory and innovation, and most recently assistant deputy minister of policy.
