The CWB has launched another new pool, this one dealing with sticks and pucks rather than wheat and barley.

The CWB hockey pool is open to all farmers, other than CWB employees, who have a CWB customer number.

Farmers can participate online at www.cwb.ca. All teams and roster picks must be finalized by 6 p.m. CST today.

CWB vice-president Gord Flaten said the hockey pool is a chance for farmers and CWB officials to get involved in a pool of a different kind.

“It’s mostly just to have some fun,” said Flaten.

“It’s fun for us to put this together and I think it’s fun for farmers who want to participate as well.”

Flaten said a late melt has delayed field work in some parts of the West and has given some farmers a bit of extra time before spring seeding.

Flaten said interest in the pool has been good so far.

Participants and their selections will be posted on the CWB website tomorrow.
