American corn growers have announced their 2010 harvested yield contest winners.
Top spot in the National Corn Growers Association competition went to David Hula of Charles City, Virginia with an irrigated, no-till crop that achieved 368 bushels per acre.
Nearly 7,000 producers entered the contest.
The final 24 winners came from eight production-type categories.
They had verified yields averaging 301.7 bu. per acre. The United States Department of Agriculture estimates the 2010 national average for American corn crops was 154 bu. per acre.
The top non-irrigated crop yielded 306.5 bu. and was grown in New Jersey. The most northerly winner was located in Wisconsin with a 299 bu. per acre crop.
