Tight market-ready supplies and a strong beef market helped lift Canadian fed and feeder cattle cash prices.

The Canfax weighted average steer price was $162.95 per hundredweight, up $2.26 and heifers were $160.23, up $1.98.

Feeder steers rose $3.51 per cwt. and feeder heifers rose $4.24.

D1, D2 cows averaged $115 per cwt. up $2.01, said Canfax

These might prove to be the high points of the season with the Chicago livestock futures market falling hard this week.

August live cattle fell 3.8 percent on the week. August feeder cattle fell 3.3 percent.

August live hogs in Chicago fell 2.2 percent on the week.

Iowa-southern Minnesota hogs delivered to plant rose to $97-$98 US per cwt. Friday, up from $94 on July 3.
