In advance of SIAL, the world’s largest food innovation marketplace occurring in Paris Oct 21-25, the federal government is holding a food promotion event called Savour Canada, which is being held at the Canadian ambassador’s official residence in Paris.

International media, consumers and importers will be able to sample some Canadian food products prepared by two of the residence’s chefs, Jérome Trayssac and Anthony Cady.

Items included on the menu are lobster, scallops, snow crab, bison, cranberries, blueberries and wine.

At SIAL, there will be 68 Canadian exhibitors participating, including 36 export-ready companies in the Canadian pavilion.

The event is expected to draw 140,000 professional visitors from the food industry.

Canadian agri-food exports to the European Union are valued at $2.4 billion annually.
