Traffic fatalities have fallen nearly 25 percent in Alberta since a traffic safety plan was implemented in 2007, the provincial government reports.
In 2010, 344 people died in Alberta traffic collisions, compared to 351 in 2009 and 410 in 2008.
The number injured also dropped to 18,253 in 2010 from 19,167 in 2009 and 22,015 in 2008.
Statistics for non-fatal collisions were 13,552 in 2010 compared to 14,246 and 16,153 in the two previous years.
Alberta traffic data shows that the number of collisions decreased 3.8 percent from 2009 to 2010. Injury collisions decreased by 4.9 percent. The number of fatalities decreased by two percent from 2009 to 2010 and the number of injuries decreased by 4.8 percent.
The number of unbelted occupant fatalities decreased by 26.2 percent since 2007 and the number of unbelted occupant serious injuries dropped by 34.3 percent.
The number of road users killed in crashes involving a drinking driver declined by 24.4 percent and the number of serious injuries in those crashes dropped by 14.5 percent.
