As Alberta politics go, it was an earthquake for the Liberals and a welcome tremor for the Progressive Conservatives when Liberal agriculture critic Bridget Pastoor crossed the floor Nov. 21 to sit with the governing party.
Pastoor, the MLA for Lethbridge East, was welcomed to the fold by premier Alison Redford.
“On behalf of all my caucus colleagues, it is with great pleasure that I welcome Bridget to the government caucus,” said Redford in a news release.
“Bridget is a decided and hard-working representative for her constituents who is focused on improving the lives of Albertans. I know she will continue her work in our caucus to find solutions to the challenges facing Alberta.”
Pastoor is a former Progressive Conservative who joined the Liberals during the Ralph Klein years.
Her move leaves the Liberals with eight sitting MLAs led by Raj Sherman.
