Manitoba and Saskatchewan farmers flooded out by late June rains should not expect any financial help through AgriRecovery, said federal agriculture minister Gerry Ritz.

Speaking to reporters at the close of the annual meeting of the country’s agriculture ministers, Ritz said there are programs already in place to help producers manage their risk.

He said unseeded acres are covered under crop insurance programs, and infrastructure coverage is available through provincial disaster assistance programs.

He added that Ottawa would participate in future flood mitigation efforts.
