Saskatchewan Tourism named Canadian Western Agribition Event of the Year at an excellence awards gala yesterday.

This is the first time in its 42-year history the annual agricultural showcase has been honoured with an award of this type. The award was for events with budgets over $20,000.

President Reed Andrew said the win recognizes the hard work of everyone involved with the show.

“This award belongs to the 400 volunteers and 200 staff who work tirelessly to make the show a success,” said chief executive officer Marty Seymour.

Also nominated in the category were the Tim Horton’s Brier and Craven Country Jamboree.
