Two well-known Canadian Western Agribition supporters have been inducted into the show’s hall of fame.
George Harlton (posthumous) and Gordon Stephenson were selected as the 2013 inductees, the show announced today.
Harlton was a founding director of the show and served on the board for 16 years. An exhibitor for 20 consecutive shows, beginning with the first one in 1971, he had a strong passion and commitment to the livestock industry. He was particularly involved in the swine industry and his family remains involved with Agribition.
Stephenson was general manager of CWA from 1977 to 1982 and after leaving that post served on the board and as a volunteer. He was show president in 1991 and 1992. He previously received the Jim Lewthwaite Award for his work to promote the show internationally.
Stephenson is also credited for developing the rodeo at Agribition.
