No-tillville has come to town.
Farm equipment manufacturer Seed Hawk has launched an online forum for grain and oilseed producers interested in reduced tillage in their planting and production systems.
“The online forum is designed to support no-till producers around the world. This will allow producers access to other growers and experts (in reduced tillage),” said Peter Clarke of Seed Hawk.
The advertising-free site, which Seed Hawk sponsors, is a service to producers, he said.
Regional forums, agronomy forums and machinery and technology discussions will provide peer to peer advice.
Expert growers are present on the site to provide their perspectives about reduced tillage systems and answer farmer questions.
Clarke said producers in Western Canada have a lot experience with reduced tillage, but in many parts of the world the technology is still in the early adoption stages.
Pat Beaujot of Seed Hawk said the provision of information and extension agrology in the No-tillville online forum is patterned after the process that took place in the 1990s and early 2000s.

Farmers, agronomists and manufacturers met in town hall settings and at field days to discuss what they knew, thought they knew and had recently learned.
Beaujot said Seed Hawk hopes that will be repeated in the online forum, but on a global scale.
Initial regional forums will be Canada, Russia, Australia, the United States and Europe.
