A Valmar distribution system with a 350 cubic foot box offers high-rate capacity for larger farms and custom work
Canadian-based Salford inked a deal with Case IH to factory-install Salford spreaders on Titan chassis.
Salford’s 350 cubic foot capacity spreader with a 72-foot air boom will be known as the Case IH FA 1030, and will be mounted on the Titan 4540 floater starting this fall, as well as on the Titan 3540 beginning in July 2021.
Troy Straatman, a product Manager at Salford, said the company already works directly with dealers to mount their spreaders on Titan Chassis, but it will be more seamless to roll them out from the factory.
“This just opens up the door a little more in working with Case. Dealing with them directly is exciting for us from a sales standpoint and customer service standpoint because they have the power behind helping the machine in the field,” Straatman said.
He said the company hopes the product will be attractive for custom applicators in Western Canada.
“Air boom technology in Western Canada has been a big market for us,” Straatman said.
He said they have been building the spreader with the 72-foot stainless boom for a few years and that it’s a proven product.
“It has 16-inch chains so we’re able to hit some high rates for some of our customers down in the southern states, even in Western Canada on the potato farms where they are putting on high rates of fertilizer,” Straatman said.
“So we can get up to 1,200 pounds (per acre) at 10 miles per hour.”
The FA 1030 also has variable rate capability and left/right boom section control.
Two configurations are available for the 350 cubic foot box.
“There is a single bin hopper that has a micro bin for micro nutrients, granular chemicals, that sort of thing. And then there is also our multi-bin hopper that is available,” Straatman said.

“You can set it in a 50-50 configuration or a 60-40 configuration, and it will be available as a double bin or a triple bin. So you can put three products out (including the micro bin), or you can use the whole hopper for one product.”
