REGINA – Montana farmer and agronomist Kurt Kammerzell wanted it all when it came to reloading his air drill’s product tanks. He wanted high capacity, three products, fast loading and gentle seed handling. He also wanted the system automated and able to get into soft fields.Kammerzell took his wish list for an ideal small grains tender system to Alberta’s Meridian Manufacturing, and the Seed Express RT600 was born.Meridian redesigned what had been known as the Goose Tender and came up with a finished product that can feed air seeder carts without relying on a cart mounted auger.”(The) tender matches the layout of most of the 500 bushel air carts on the market today and can load out at 60 bu. a minute with the 10 wide conveyor,” Kammerzell said.”With one button on the remote control, the conveyor is ready to begin loading in eight seconds. It has a 180 degree positioning. It starts, stops and cleans out, all from the remote.”The three tender compartments hold 231, 116 and 106 bushels and feed a 24 inch conveyor via remote controlled hopper gates. The system runs on hydraulic motors powered by a gasoline engine running a hydraulic pump.Besides running the gates, the remote provides variable speed to the conveyors and lets the operator position the loader conveyor.”Originally, the design dropped the products down into the carts’ own augers or a loader, but this speeds things and is more gentle on pulse crop seed.”The system can be placed on a tandem or heavy duty trailer.”You can get enough rubber under it so that it can be used in the field, keeping the seeding unit from having to run back to load,” he said.It has a lighting package and 12 volt power for night time operation. The unit will be available this fall and sell for about $40,000.For more information, visit www.meridianmfg.com or call 780-672-4516.
