Canadians know their Red Angus breeding. Especially Clinton and Angela Morasch of Bassano, Alta.,  and Clayton and Corrine Gibson of Fir Mountain, Sask.

They did Canada proud earlier this week with major wins at the annual National Western Stock Show in Denver. Calgary-based reporter Barbara Duckworth attends the show almost every year to track Canadian results. She was there when Lazy MC Red Angus of Bassano, Alta., owned by Clinton and Angela Morasch, won the grand champion bull with an April 2011 calf. Th Morasch’s daughter, Laurie, was  named junior herdsman of the year.
The grand champion female was won by Six Mile Angus of Fir Mountain, Sask., operated by Clayton and Corrine Gibson. They also won reserve grand champion bull. Here’s a photo Duckworth took of the tie-outs at the show. Denver has more snow than most of the Prairies at present. More details on the Red Angus wins and other successes will appear in the Jan. 19 issue of The Western Producer.
