A 50-year-old man from Winnipeg was killed yesterday near Esterhazy, Sask., after his car rear-ended a tractor pulling a cultivator.

RCMP said both vehicles were traveling north around 6:50 p.m. when the collision occurred. The man’s vehicle, a Chevrolet Lumina, then left the road and travelled through a field. It went over a hill and out of sight of the tractor operator.

The car was located about 1.5 kilometres from the scene of the collision, in about a metre of water. RCMP said the driver was dead in the driver’s seat.

The man’s name has not been released.
