We have gone full circle. Our forefathers came to Canada to be free to farm, free from being serfs to the land barons, and now they are going to be serfs, and will work for multi-national companies who will own the land and the seed. Already farmers are told they are not to use their own seed.
So Brad Farquhar’s absurd idea of buying land for investors (WP Jan. 27 –Investment pools offer new land lease options) and renting it to farmers is the most ridiculous idea I have ever heard.
Wars are being fought over land, but Canada’s farmland is for sale.
