Municipalities, rural residents and small businesses affected by flooding are receiving more help from the Saskatchewan government.

The municipal deductible under the Provincial Disaster Assistance Program has been decreased from .15 percent of taxable assessment to .1 percent.

A maximum 15 percent of damage costs in an existing claim can now be used for mitigation projects.

A new category of communal organizations, such as Hutterite colonies, has been established.

As well, the minimum revenue requirement for small businesses has been reduced from $6,000 to $4,000.

The cost of the changes is estimated at $2.5 million.
