Gene Makowsky is going from the football field to the political arena.

The Saskatchewan Roughrider will be the Saskatchewan Party’s candidate in a Regina constituency in the November 2011 election.

Premier Brad Wall introduced the offensive lineman in the legislature Dec. 1.

Makowsky told reporters he has not yet closed the door on his football career and might play another year.

The constituency is held by the NDP’s Kevin Yates.
