In your Nov. 4 issue of Open Forum, Roy Nelson of Regina states that John Hamon of Gravelbourg made inaccurate statements regarding the long gun registry poll.
I would guess that Mr. Hamon may have been quoting results from two polls conducted at that time. The first poll was from CBC Canada and the second was from Angus Reid.
They found that 72 and 74 percent of Canadians, respectively, said that the registry was expensive and useless and should be scrapped. What I found even more edifying was that they also found that 92 and 95 percent of frontline police officers, respectively, said the registry was useless and should be scrapped.
It’s always possible to find and quote a poll somewhere that agrees with your personal opinion. Just pick one.
