Mission Terminal is expanding its capacity and plans to move more crops.”We’re always tight on storage and felt that it was necessary for us to have some additional storage as we look at handling new grains, additional grains and even handling the business we had on the books,” said Adrian Measner, chief executive officer of Soumat, which owns Mission Terminal.”Certainly there are opportunities to look at some of the other grains, lentils and so forth that we weren’t able to with the structure that we had before,” Measner said. The expansion is partially funded by an Ontario government job creation program called Enterprises North.Mission Terminal, which operates facilities in Western Canada and at Thunder Bay, Ont., handles almost exclusively wheat, durum and canola. It moves grain from the Canadian Wheat Board and is the largest administrator of producer cars from the Prairies.Soumat, which is based in Winnipeg, also owns a marketing company, a transfer elevator in Quebec and a stevedoring company.
