The Saskatchewan government has appointed Neal Hardy of Hudson Bay to chair the Saskatchewan Assessment Management Agency.

Hardy is a former president of the Saskatchewan Association of Rural Municipalities and was an MLA from 1980 to 1991. He held cabinet portfolios that include rural development.

He replaces Craig Melvin, who retired Sept. 1 when his term was up.

SAMA is responsible for the province’s tax assessment standards and procedures. It confirms municipal tax assessment rolls and assesses property values.
