A one-two punch of technology will raise Saskatchewan’s profile on the international stage, attract more investment and increase trade, business leaders told a Regina news conference April 2.
The Saskatchewan Trade and Export Partnership launched a flash drive containing information about STEP, Enterprise Saskatchewan, tourism and immigration, while Enterprise Saskatchewan unveiled a marketing DVD using the slogan: Saskatchewan. Opportunity Now.
STEP president Lionel LaBelle said he expects thousands of the small data storage devices will be distributed over the next year.
“We have built something into this flash drive that’s a tracking device,” he told reporters.

He said people are curious about Saskatchewan because it has risen on the world stage, and the flash drive also serves a promotional purpose.
LaBelle said while Saskatchewan exporters have no control over the global economy, they can control their share of the economic pie.
He noted that agricultural commodities are strong and farm implements are one of the province’s largest manufacturing sectors.
