Hall of fame inductees

CALGARY (Staff) – The 1995 inductees to the Alberta Agriculture Hall of Fame have been named.

Ralph Jespersen, a past president of the Canadian Federation of Agriculture and Unifarm is a dairy farmer from Stony Plain. As president of the Dairy Bureau of Canada, Jespersen helped initiate marketing policies and product improvement. He has worked as a mediator for various farm groups and sat as a member of the Alberta legislative assembly from 1967-71.

George Daugela of Spruce Grove is receiving the honor posthumously. He is known for his agricultural equipment developments and taught farm implement design to Alberta and international students. He created a grain dryer specifically for western Canadian conditions and developed harvest management techniques for grain farmers around the world. He taught farmers at the Banff School of Management, was a member of the Alberta Institute of Agrologists and was one of the founders of the Prairie Implement Manufacturing Association. He died in June, 1990.
