Last-minute candidate changes and a campaign that pit two former city mayors against a former city police chief had all the makings of an exciting race.
But in the end, it wasn’t particularly close and the result was the same.
The Saskatchewan riding of Palliser, left without its incumbent MP after Dave Batters withdrew for medical reasons just before the election was called, returned a Conservative to Ottawa.
Former Moose Jaw mayor Ray Boughen earned 14,160 votes, while NDP candidate, and former Moose Jaw mayor, Don Mitchell received 10,870.
Liberal candidate Cal Johnston, the former Regina police chief, picked up 5,489 votes, while the Green Party’s Larissa Shasko received 1,668 votes.
