In the utility to mid-horsepower range of tractors, John Deere offers a pretty large number of model choices. Included in that group is the 6 Series.
Positioned between the lower-spec 6E line and the premium 6R Series is the mid-spec 6M. In late June, Deere announced it had updated those mid-spec 6M tractors, and that line now offers a choice of 18 models. It’s a lot, to say the least.
The available horsepower range has been increased, too. 6M tractors now range from 95 to 250 h.p. The Intelligent Power Management feature can bump those numbers up by as much as 20 h.p. over a model’s rated horsepower in transport and non-stationary power take-off applications.

Dry bean seeded acreage in Manitoba hits 20-year high
Dry bean acreage across all types reached around 207,000 acres in 2025, representing a significant increase from last year’s 182,000 acres.
“Before, it stopped at 195 (h.p.),” Simon Paquette, Deere’s territory business manager, says about the 6M Series.
“Now we have the extra horsepower categories similar to our 6R tractors.
“This is not a new product, but an updated product. We’ve added different horsepower categories, five different frame sizes and a lot of different options that customers have been asking for.”
Among those new options is a rear bar axle capable of handling dual wheels, making spacing tires easier for row-crop duties. The tractors can also be equipped with the triple-link front axle suspension.
The largest two models, the 230 and 250, come exclusively with a 40 or 50 km-h capable step-less IVT transmission. However, the other models offer a number of different transmission options, aside from the IVT.
There are different maximum speed options as well. Under the hood is either Deere’s 4.5 or 6.8 litre diesel engine, depending on the model.
For the operator, new cab option packages are available. As well, the brand is making some of the digital technology from the higher-horsepower model lines available on the 6M Series.
“We have a new cab like our 6R tractors with more technology available,” says Paquette.
“All those tractors will be coming with a JD Link modem. They can be ordered with the StarFire 7500 and also with our new G5 display.”
The 6Ms can be delivered from the factory with Deere’s 600R front-end loaders.
“Our 6 Series tractors cover a wide variety of customer segments,” says Paquette.
“There’s a lot of different applications for this tractor, hence all the different options that are available to customize it. It’s a very versatile tractor, as well.”
