Another top Saskatchewan Wheat Pool executive has left the company.

Lyle Spencer spent 29 years at the pool, and was chief financial officer and executive vice-president of finance since 1990.

He has left “to pursue other opportunities,” according to a news release.

Pool president Marvin Wiens would not comment on Spencer’s departure, except to say there are always changes when a new leadership team comes into a company.

Michael McCord has replaced Spencer on an interim basis. He is a former senior executive with ConAgra, who joined the pool in April as chief information officer and senior vice-president of business information management. He was also a senior manager at General Mills Inc.

Chief executive officer Mayo Schmidt worked for both those companies before the pool hired him in January.

“Until such time that I can announce a permanent successor to the position of CFO, Mike’s diverse experience in financial management, risk management and the development of business information systems will enhance our ability to capitalize on the strengths of the pool,” Schmidt said in the news release.
