Cartoons need more realistic perspective
I heaved a deep sigh of disgust on viewing the cartoon in the July 7 edition. As always, the farmer is a middle-aged man; that never changes in your cartoons. What also never changes is the portrayal of women. While women seldom appear in Producer cartoons, when they do they are always bitchy, complaining about something farmers or agriculture in general are doing. This woman is even more of a cliche — bitchy and buxom.
You desperately need a new, more realistic perspective. Women are farmers and equal farm partners, and consumers who ask questions should not be subject to ridicule.
I challenge you again — this is not the first such letter I have written to the Producer — to do better.
