Cargill’s plans for a canola crush plant at Regina are moving ahead.

The company has bought 247 acres from the Global Transportation Hub, just west of the city, for $38 million. The provincial cabinet recently approved the deal.

Cargill said last August that it would build at the GTH because of the road and rail infrastructure.

The $350-million plant is one of several announced for the city last year. Construction was expected to start early this year on a facility to crush one million tonnes of canola.

The plant should be operational by 2024.
