HELSINKI, Sept 27 (Reuters) – Finland has proposed that Nordic countries should set a joint target on biofuels and increase the minimum proportion of bio-based raw materials in all fuels, Finnish Prime Minister Juha Sipila told reporters on Tuesday.
Finland has set itself a target for 20 percent of all transport fuel to come from renewable sources by 2020, rising to 40 percent by 2030.
The other Nordic countries have set similar strategic goals, but without legal requirements.
The European Union target for 2020 is 10 percent.
Sipila said the Nordic prime ministers will discuss the proposal at their current meeting in Finnish island of Aland.
