A chicken rice prepared food is the subject of a recall due to potential for contamination from listeria.
Ajinomoto brand Yakitori Chicken with Japanese-Style Fried Rice is being recalled by Costco Canada, which distributed it in western Canadian stores.
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency said that some Costco warehouse locations provided free food samples of the recalled product in recent months.
The recall appears to be connected to others for frozen vegetables that were made or processed by CRF Frozen Foods in the United States.
The CFIA said no one in Canada has reported illness related to the chicken rice product. Those who have the item should throw it out or return it to place of purchase, the CFIA advised.
Food contaminated with listeria may look fine but if eaten can cause nausea, persistent fever, muscle aches, severe headaches and neck stiffness.
