BUENOS AIRES (Reuters) — Argentine farmers are expected to bring in 60 million tonnes of soy in the 2014-15 season, the Buenos Aires Grains Exchange said on Thursday, citing high yields and smooth harvesting as reasons for increasing its previous estimate of 58.5 million tonnes.
Harvesting advanced by a brisk 15.7 percentage points during the previous week, the exchange said in a report, bringing total collection so far to 61.8 percent of area planted with soy.
The exchange also increased its 2014-15 corn crop estimate to 25 million tonnes from a previous 23 million.
The harvest advanced 2.7 percentage points during the previous week, bringing total collection so far to 28.4 percent.
