CORRECTION: Tuesday March 10, 2015 – 1215 CST – The first version of this story incorrectly listed the amount STC would be receiving as $13.8 million. The correct amount is $10.3 million.

Saskatchewan’s bus line will get $10.3 million from the provincial government this year to operate its network.

Last year Saskatchewan Transportation Company received a $10.3 million operating grant plus a $3.3 million capital grant. The latter has been eliminated this year in keeping with the government’s decision to hold the line on expenses.

STC hiked passenger fares an average 5.5 percent last August and another 4.5 percent effective March 2.

The company recently purchased five used coaches and will retire older buses.
