Canola settled lower on Friday, fighting headwinds from a stronger loony and weaker soy oil.

But on the week, canola contracts made modest gains.

May canola settled at $454.20 per tonne, a gain of 70 cents on the week, and November settled at $480.20, up $1.50 from the previous Friday.

Increased farmer deliveries also weighed on canola today.

Soy oil retreated after having trouble breaking through the 200-day moving average.

Wheat fell again and the Chicago contract set a three-week low on a forecast for rain in the dry southern U.S. plains.
