Fire kills 4,500 pigs at Big Sky barn in Sask.

Fire engulfed a barn belonging to Big Sky Farms west of Lanigan, Sask., yesterday evening, killing approximately 4,500 young pigs.

According to an email sent by Humboldt-Lanigan RCMP, a fire crew from the Lanigan Fire Department arrived shortly after 6 p.m. March 31. Smoke was coming out of the eves of the barn, and fire soon followed.

No one was injured and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
