It’s not everyday that a $20 bill smacks your windshield.

But when that happened to a driver on Great Plains Road in Emerald Park, Sask., east of Regina Oct. 31, he pulled over and found Canadian and American money blowing in the ditch.

RCMP said the man, who wished to remain anonymous, gathered up stray bills and a wallet and took it to White Butte RCMP detachment.

The owner was contacted and the wallet returned.

The incident happened after a man from White City pulled into the Co-op gas station on Great Plains Road, paid for his gas with a credit card and put his wallet on the edge of his trailer while he returned the hose to the pump.

Low global prices for grains, Russia’s main agricultural commodity, have caused a sharp fall in exports in recent months.

He then drove off down the road, where his wallet fell off the trailer.

RCMP said the man had recently returned from a shopping trip to the United States and the wallet contained more than $500 in currency from both countries, numerous credit cards and his personal identification.

“The owner of the wallet was extremely relieved to receive his wallet back and planned to speak to the male who found it to personally pass on this thanks,” said White Butte RCMP spokesman sgt. Paul Dawson.
