The 2013 inductees into the Canadian Agricultural Hall of Fame are Lowell Lindsay, John Oliver, the late John Wise and Donald Ziraldo.
The Canadian Agricultural Hall of Fame Association (CAHFA) honours and celebrates Canadians for outstanding contributions to the agriculture and food industry.
“This year’s inductees demonstrate the dynamic nature of our industry, and the breadth of dedication, expertise and contributions that have shaped, and continue to shape, the Canadian agricultural landscape,” says association president Judy Shaw.
Lindsay lives near Guelph, Ont., and has represented Canadian agriculture at home and abroad by improving Canadian dairy cattle genetics. A sire analyst, judge and genetics promoter, Lindsay has been responsible for selecting some of the most in-demand sires in the global dairy industry.

Oliver of Oshawa, Ont., has been an advocate of Canadian agriculture during his career as an agribusiness executive. His commitment to industry associations and willingness to mentor others has been instrumental in helping Canadian agriculture address future challenges.
Wise, originally from St. Thomas, Ont., was a long-standing public servant, starting out in municipal politics and eventually serving two terms as federal agriculture minister from 1979-88. During his leadership, agricultural research stations and laboratories were established across Canada.
Ziraldo lives in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ont., and pioneered the Canadian wine industry, putting domestically produced wine on the map at home and on the world stage. He co-founded Inniskillen Wines in 1975, the first winery to be licenced in Ontario since prohibition, founded the Vintners Quality Alliance program and was instrumental in the development of the Cool Climate Oenology and Viticulture Institute at Brock University.
