CWB pegs canola crop at 12.5 mT, all wheat down 15% – At the end of the tour, CWB Market Research found that Canadian spring wheat production will be significantly reduced this year, as feared, because of western drought, but that good crops in Manitoba and eastern Saskatchewan will mitigate some of those western losses.

Sask. crops affected more by moisture than dryness: CWB tour – HUMBOLDT, Sask. — As the CWB crop tour moves into central-Saskatchewan from Manitoba, it becomes clear there is a fine line when it comes to moisture conditions.

Wheat fields outside Yorkton, Sask., saw opposite conditions compared to the previous day, with too much moisture causing damage to crops.

Durum spring wheat yields dip in Alta., Sask. –  ANEROID, Sask. (Reuters) — Potential yields of spring wheat and durum are down across much of the Prairies after some of the driest conditions in decades, scouts noted on the annual CWB Market Research Services crop tour.

Alta. durum looks good – MEDICINE HAT, Alta. — Alberta durum crops have fared better than other crops in the face of dry weather conditions.

Durum yields in an area between Lethbridge and Medicine Hat, a major durum-growing region of the province, are estimated to be 15 to 20 percent below the 50 bushel per acre average for the region.

CWB tour: eastern Sask. crops better than last year – CARLYLE, Sask. — Chuck Fossay has grown enough canola in his life to easily recognize a great crop. But for the sake of media and grain traders participating in a crop tour July 22, Fossay pointed out the difference between a fantastic crop and mediocre canola.

Spring wheat yields puny in dry Alberta, near-record in Manitoba – LETHBRIDGE (Reuters) — Spring wheat yields measured less than half of last year’s results in drought-stricken southeastern Alberta but were on track to set a record high in southern Manitoba during a Canadian crop tour that saw the results of wildly contrasting weather.

Canadian durum faring better than other crops in southeastern Alberta – SKIFF, Alta. (Reuters) — Durum, the wheat used to make pasta, has fared better against dry conditions than other major crops in a pocket of southeastern Alberta, crop tour scouts noted today.

Alberta crop suffering, but ‘not a disaster’ – LETHBRIDGE — Drought and heat have taken their toll on southern Alberta crops, but there will be a harvest.

Manitoba Crops looking good, day one – South of Winnipeg the wheat looked good. And it looked good as we drove west from St. Malo, through Morris, down through Winkler and up the escarpment and west into southwestern Manitoba.
