Less is more when it comes to lamb litter size

A veterinarian says increased mortality and lower finishing weights are the price sheep producers pay for larger litters

Sheep producers are known to strive for twins, triplets and even quadruplets in their lambing litters, but an Alberta veterinarian and sheep researcher says this could be harmful in the long run.

Alberta lamb producers form shipping co-op

Western Canada Lamb Cooperative plans to find enough producers to fill a cattle liner and send it to Ontario or Quebec

Vice-chair of the new co-op, Claude Durupt, said the co-op isn’t about buying or selling lambs on its own; it’s simply trying to facilitate transportation.
