Improved GPS accuracy

Terradox Corp. has launched Version 3 of its SiteWinder agricultural GPS Guidance System at a reduced price.

A new feature, SureCover, virtually eliminates gaps and overlaps. It automatically turns on individual spray sections as the vehicle enters an area of the field that has not been sprayed and automatically turns them off when the vehicle enters an already sprayed zone.

SureCover is designed to ensure complete coverage and reduce waste in headlands and tapered end rows.

SiteWinder 3 is equipped with solid-state data storage that holds several years of field records, dedicated settings for a variety of boom widths and a more convenient system for transferring data from SiteWinder to an office computer. The new version is also CANBus and Autosteer ready.

Trash tools

K-Hart Industries Ltd. has introduced a new residue manager for Flexicoil-Barton disc openers.

Two problems can arise when seeding with disc openers. The disc can push the straw into the seed trench, called hairpinning, which reduces seed-to-soil contact.

As well, the discs can pack the soil when trying to cut through straw, making it hard to penetrate.

The Residue Manager clears residue, giving the openers have a clean path.

The Residue Manager has an adjustable blade angle for optimum performance under varying field conditions. The blades are made of special steel five times stronger and more wear resistant than regular blades.

A “lockup cable” lifts the residue manager out of the way when field conditions do not warrant use.

K-Hart Industries has also developed a residue manager for its own line of disc openers.

New Fendt models

Agco’s Fendt has expanded its 800 Series tractor line with the 815 130 power take-off horsepower model and the 817 with 145 pto hp.

They weigh 21,000 pounds field ready and are built to handle big loads.

The Vario continuously variable transmission gives the operator an infinite number of speeds up to 32 mph while the tractor management system constantly balances weight and power against load to find the most efficient balance of engine and ground speed.

The optional Variotronic headland management system allows the operator to input up to 13 functions that are repetitive in nature. Once recorded, they can be replayed at the push of a button.

For example, the system can be programmed to lower a tool bar at the same distance into the field and to the same depth while the tractor speed resumes each time the sequence is played.
